Kenney to unveil homeless outreach plan for Center City

Strategy to address 'hotspots' in Philly

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney will announce a plan to address a growing number of homeless people in Center City on Monday.

The outreach strategy is in response to an increase in the presence of street homelessness in four high-volume "hotspots" in Center City, Kenney's office said.

Following Kenney's 10:30 a.m. announcement at City Hall, six outreach teams will be deployed to each hotspot.

There, the teams will try and help homeless individuals in transitioning into housing, addiction treatment, mental health services and other social services, Kenney said.

The exact location of the hotspots was not immediately made known.
