A blueberry-banana-strawberry breakfast shake is a great way to start the day.

MINDFUL THOUGHT: Focus on Including Healthy Things in Your Life

When there is too much attention on any one thing, it forces you to think about that thing constantly. For example, if you are walking around all day thinking, “Don’t eat chocolate, don’t eat chocolate, don’t eat chocolate” or, “don’t smoke, don’t smoke, don’t smoke,” those activities will be at the forefront of your mind and therefore, you may be more tempted to act on the cravings.

If you are trying to kick a bad habit, this week, put it aside. Make a resolution that when you have the urge to do this thing, you will pause and ask yourself, “Do I really need to do this?” If the answer is yes, then do it. Instead of focusing on what you shouldn’t be doing, put your energy into something positive. Introduce a healthy habit into your life like a daily breakfast shake or exercise routine and put the negative behavior out of your head. Continue to add more and more positive activities to your day. The idea is that if we put this bad habit on the back burner and add healthier behaviors into the mix, there will soon be no room for it.
