Mullica Township man arrested in connection to wife's killing

Sergio DeRosa was arrested Friday on charges connected to the fatal shooting of his wife on May 26, 2014.

Authorities have arrested a Mullica Township man in connection to a homicide investigation of his wife's death in 2014, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On May 26, 2014, Mullica Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call concerning a shooting at 4901 Pleasant Mills Road. Joined by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, crews discovered that 57-year-old Lynn DeRosa had sustained a fatal shotgun wound to the head.

An autopsy on May 27, 2014, resulted in a determination that DeRosa's manner of death was homicide.

More than a year later, investigators have returned an indictment by an Atlantic County Grand Jury against 57-year-old Sergio DeRosa, charging manslaughter by recklessly causing the death of his wife.

DeRosa was arrested Friday at his home, without incident. He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility Mays Landing in lieu of $150,000 bail, cash or bond.

If convicted, DeRosa faces between 5-10 years in New Jersey State prison.
