Penn Staters kicked off the annual 46-hour dance marathon fundraiser Friday night.

Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon — known as THON  —  is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. The fundraiser has raised more than $114 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital since its inception in 1977. THON raised $13.34 million in 2014 alone.

According to the charity's website, childhood cancers are the number one killer of children and account for more deaths in the U.S. than asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and pediatric AIDS combined.

Attendees will be dancing — there is no sitting or sleeping allowed — at Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center from Feb. 20 to Feb. 22.
