An inmate was found dead in a cell at Graterford prison, Superintendent Cynthia Link announced.
William Edinger, 38, from Philadelphia, was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday around 9:35 a.m.
Prison staff transported Edinger to the infirmary where he was pronounced dead.
According to state policy, Edinger's death will be investigated by Pennsylvania State and the cause of death will be determined by Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Edinger had been serving a 3- to 8-year prison sentence for burglary since February 27, 2008. He violated parole and was recently sent back to Graterford on April 14.
