Philly POPS to take on Elvis Presley at season opener

The King is coming to Philly

On Aug. 5 tickets for the Philly POPS season opener "Elvis: The King's Songbook" go on sale. The show will take place over the weekend of Oct. 21.

Attendees to any of the four Kimmel Center performances will hear live renditions of "Heartbreak Hotel," "Burnin' Love," "Jailhouse Rock," "Love Me Tender" and "Can't Help Falling in Love."

Before the season opener, though, the POPS and their Elvis will perform a preview to get the city pumped-up. On the day tickets become available, local singer and guitar player Billy Brown will sing the King's tunes all over Philly.

When / Where:

Noon:  The Porch at 30th Street Station (at Visit Philly XOXO sculpture), 2955 Market Street

1 p.m.: Sister Cities Park, N. 18th St. at Benjamin Franklin Pkwy

2 p.m.: Blue Cross River Rink, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.

3 p.m.: Liberties Walk at Schmidt's Commons in Northern Liberties (between El Camino and Bar Ferdinand), 1040 N. Second Street

4:30 p.m.: Parx Casino, 2999 Street Road, Bensalem

During the October performances, vocalists Allison Blackwell and Dave Bennett will take on Elvis' hits.
