Cabin smoke prompts emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport

A Republic Airlines plane that left Philadelphia International Airport Wednesday afternoon was diverted to North Carolina for an emergency landing after a report of smoke in the cabin.

Officials said the plane, whose original destination was Jacksonville, Florida, landed at Raleigh-Durham International Airport at 6 p.m., 6 ABC reports.

The flight crew for the Republic Airlines plane, operating as American Eagle, decided to divert the aircraft after receiving the report of smoke.

There were no injuries reported and the airline is working to make sure that the 65 passengers arrive in Jacksonville as soon as possible.
