Spanish retailer Zara coming to Cherry Hill Mall

Zara's first suburban Philadelphia location will soon be just a drive over the bridge.

The Spanish fashion retailer will take up a 26,000 square foot space between Macy's and Nordstrom in the Cherry Hill Mall, Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust announced in a news release Tuesday.

"Bringing Zara, a global fashion retailer, to our portfolio underscores our high-quality, high-performance portfolio and the strength of our positioning in Philadelphia and D.C.," said Joseph F. Coradino, CEO of PREIT in a statement.

The store is expected to open in November 2017.

The mall kept quiet on who would be taking over the space that required a 5,000 square foot addition to be built for its occupancy.

In addition to being the first suburban Philadelphia location, this will also be the first South Jersey location for the retailer.

Zara opened its first store in Spain in 1975. Since then, it's expanded internationally, with more than 2,100 locations throughout 88 countries.
