Man charged in carjacking of North Philly pizza delivery driver whose girlfriend, kids were still in vehicle

Shaun Triplett, 18, is charged with multiple crimes in a carjacking incident that happened Tuesday night in North Philadelphia. Triplett allegedly stole the minivan of a pizza delivery driver with the man's girlfriend and their three children still inside the vehicle. Triplett is accused of threatening to kill the woman before she jumped out of the vehicle and he eventually abandoned it. The incident comes amid a spike in carjackings in Philadelphia over the last two years.

Merrill Reese signs extension with WIP to remain Eagles radio play-by-play announcer

Philadelphia Eagles radio play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese has signed a three-year extension with SportsRadio 94WIP to continue calling games. At 79 years old, Reese has been on the job calling Eagles games in 1977, making him the longest-tenured radio announcer among all NFL teams.

An 11-story life sciences research building will be constructed on the Drexel University campus in Philadelphia, bringing 500,000 square feet of custom-designed lab space to University City. Drexel is working with Gatusso Development Partners on the project at 3201 Cuthbert St., adjacent to the university's historic Armory near 32nd Street and JFK Boulevard.

Fired head of Lancaster County Drug Task Force allegedly stole $200,000 in cash seized from suspects

John Burkhart, the former officer in charge of the Lancaster County Drug Task Force, faces multiple criminal charges connected to the alleged theft of approximately $200,000 in seized money, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. Burkhart, a retired Lancaster City police officer, allegedly stole funds that were seized during drug investigations and held as evidence pending prosecution and legal forfeiture.

The Cape May ferry terminal at the Jersey Shore has three new restaurants set to open in the coming months. The Lookout is expected to open by the end of March. Exit Zero Ferry Station, a casual restaurant, and Boat Drinks, a seafood establishment over looking the canal, will debut this summer. Three ferry boats also are being replaced.

Endangered, miniature bat from Pennsylvania sets migration distance record

A female Indiana bat tracked by Pennsylvania Game Commission clocked the longest-known migration distance on record for the endangered species. The bat was banded and given a radio transmitter that traced a journey from a roost in Pennsylvania to cave in Kentucky 418 miles away.

The Ben Simmons jeers have begun ahead of marquee Sixers-Nets game

Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons will return to Philadelphia on Thursday night to face the Sixers and their fans at the Wells Fargo Center. Simmons is injured and has not played since the 76ers traded him to Brooklyn in exchange for James Harden in February. Ahead of the game on TNT, videos surfaced of fans booing and jeering Simmons in Center City.
