New Jersey law makes inciting brawls a crime with $10,000 fines and jail time

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill Monday that makes it a fourth-degree crime for people to incite brawls. The law aims to address years of unruly behavior from teens and young adults at the Jersey Shore, malls and other community events across the state. Under the new law, violators face $10,000 fines and up to 18 months in prison.

Del Frisco's Grille will close later this summer after nearly seven years as the ground-floor restaurant at the Cambria Hotel Philadelphia on South Broad Street. Former Eagle Juqua Parker charged with DUI after crashing car near State College

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Juqua Parker faces DUI charges after he crashed his car in central Pennsylvania in March, police said. Parker, 47, crashed his car in Ferguson Township, Centre County, and allegedly had a blood-alcohol content twice the legal limit, according to authorities.

SEPTA's board appointed interim general manager Scott Sauer as its permanent GM in a vote Monday morning, keeping him at the helm as the transportation authority braces for potential service cuts and a steep fare increase in the months ahead. SEPTA faces a $213 million operating deficit if state lawmakers are unable to agree on a deal for new funding in this year's budget.

Philly journalist pleads guilty to role in prescription fraud scheme at Broad Street Family Pharmacy

Seven people, including veteran Philadelphia journalist Angelo 'A.D.' Amorosi, pleaded guilty this week to charges stemming from a $20 million Medicare and Medicaid fraud scheme uncovered at the former Broad Street Family Pharmacy in South Philly, the Pennsylvania attorney general's office said. The owners and pharmacist at the business — which closed in 2021 — are among those who pleaded guilty.

McGilliin's Olde Ale House, the longest continuously operating bar in Philadelphia, has opened a new year-round gift shop in a nearby storefront in Center City. The storied 19th century bar opened on Drury Lane in 1860 and has endured as one of the city's most popular sports bars. The gift shop carries a mix of Philly-themed souvenirs, bar apparel, books and imported Irish goods.
