Human bones found on several Jersey Shore beaches over decades are the remains of Henry Goodsell, captain of the schooner Oriental that shipwrecked near Brigantine in December 1844. The vessel was hauling marble from Connecticut to Philadelphia for the construction of Girarde College.

Whitemarsh Township held a special meeting Thursday night to discuss the cancelation of this year's July 4th parade, which was called off because of public safety concerns. Residents said the township did not act transparently and failed to plan properly for the decades-old event. The township's board of supervisors will now weigh whether there is still a way to safely hold this year's event.

Former Philadelphia police officer Mark Dial was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in his trial for the August 2023 shooting of 27-year-old Eddie Irizarry in Kensington. At the end of a trial that started Tuesday, the jury found Dial, 29, not guilty of third-degree murder. A sentencing hearing will take place at a later date.

A 12-year-old boy was killed by his 14-year-old brother Wednesday night at his home in West Philadelphia, police said. The shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. on the 800 block of Brooklyn Street. The 14-year-old boy was arrested and a gun was recovered at the home. Charges are pending an ongoing investigation with homicide detectives.

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation is searching for a business to take over the vacant, flying saucer-shaped LOVE Park Welcome Center. The city hopes to find a vendor who can operate in the circular building by early 2026 to coincide with events and festivities surrounding the semiquincentennial celebration.

The red, white and blue design features the Liberty Bell and the slogan, 'Let Freedom Ring,' as a way to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary next year. PennDOT has started taking orders to replace license plates for $13.

American Airlines is opening two new premium lounges Thursday at Philadelphia International Airport, which serves as one of the airline's hubs in the United States. The Flagship and Admirals Club lounges are located in Terminal A-West between gates A15 and A16. American Airlines is also testing out new premium seating on select international flights from Philadelphia to London this summer.
