With Fishtown mural, Sixers' Matisse Thybulle will benefit Philly parks

Philadelphia 76ers forward Matisse Thybulle has partnered with Red Bull on a mural in Fishtown and an initiative to raise money for the Philadephia Parks & Recreation Department. Every steal he records this season will generate a $250 donation to improve basketball courts in the city. Thybulle's new mural, spray-painted by Philadelphia artist Gloss Black, located at Garage on East Girard Avenue.

Philly, suburbs sue Pennsylvania to defend their plastic bag bans

Philadelphia, Narberth, West Chester and Lower Merion are challenging a state measure in court to be able to enforce bans on single-use plastics that are currently prohibited by action last year from the Pennsylvania General Assembly. If Philadelphia's ban moves forward, the law would take effect on July 7, 2021.

Myron Rodos, 80, of Ambler, will spend five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges that he illegally distributed oxycodone and methadone at his North Philadelphia practice in exchange for sex and cash.

Philly approves plan to bring fans back to sports venues

Philadelphia sports fans will be permitted to return to Flyers and Sixers games at the Wells Fargo Center beginning on March 7. At each game, 3,100 spectators will be allowed. The change took place after Philadelphia aligned its guidelines with new occupancy limits set by Pennsylvania. Phillies fans also will be able to attend games at Citizens Bank Park when the season begins in April.

Three teens sought in brutal attack on Norristown pizza shop owner

Norristown police are searching for three teenagers accused of assaulting the owner of Mama Venezia's Pizzeria on Feb. 19, 2021. Arrest warrants have been issued for brothers Justin and Kevin Cassidy, of Aston, and Justin Croson, of Seven Valleys. All three suspects are 19 years old.

FTC backs off objection to Jefferson-Einstein merger in North Philly

Jefferson Health and Albert Einstein Healthcare Network are on track to complete a merger of their systems in North Philadelphia, adding four Einstein hospitals to the Jefferson network. The Federal Trade Commission, which previously had sued to block the merger, will not appeal the case after it was dismissed late last year.
