The Philadelphia 76ers' proposed new arena was reviewed Tuesday by the city's Civic Design Review committee, which offers advisory recommendations on how developers can improve their projects. The committee described the $1.55 billion plan as 'undercooked' and said it needs improvements that will make it a world-class destination on East Market Street.

Robber who shot employees at Mayfair Pizza sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison

A man who robbed Mayfair Pizza at gunpoint last year, shooting two employees at the Northeast Philly shop, has been sentenced to spend nearly 14 years in prison. Kalab Bridges pleaded guilty in December to charges stemming from the incident at Mayfair Pizza, where the owner and several bystanders subdued him after the shooting.

First year of marijuana legalization could generate $41 million for Pennsylvania, fiscal report says

Legalization of recreational marijuana could generate up to $41 million in the first year of sales and climb to $271 million by 2028, according to an analysis by the state Independent Fiscal Office. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro proposed cannabis legalization as part of his budget address in February. With the exception of West Virginia, all of Pennsylvania's bordering states have legalized recreational marijuana.

Collingswood teen charged with manslaughter for allegedly throwing fatal punch

A 16-year-old in Camden County will face upgraded charges of manslaughter after he allegedly punched a man in the head, causing him to strike his head on the ground and suffer injuries that claimed his life eight days later, prosecutors said. Oron "Carl" Beebe, 46, was found unresponsive at a parking lot where the March 23 incident took place, prosecutors said.

American Airlines plane clips parked aircraft while departing Philly airport

The wing of an American Airlines plane made contact with a parked plane next to it while leaving a gate at Philadelphia International Airport on Monday afternoon. The flight from Philadelphia to Charlotte was delayed by about four hours and an alternate plane was used to make the trip.

On April Fools' Day, a number of brands at the Jersey Shore decided to prank the public with a series of fake news announcements. Pau Hana, the floating tiki bar tour boat in Ocean City, revealed that it had entered a collaboration with Wawa to bring a roving store to the waters between Ocean City and Somers Point. And the writers at Wildwood Video Archive jokingly announced the the 'S' would be removed from the iconic 'Wildwoods' beach ball sign.

Atlantic City mayor says raid at his home stems from a 'family matter' – not corruption

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. said a search warrant was served at his home by Atlantic County prosecutors last week was related to a "family matter" and did not involve corruption. He and his attorney declined to say whether the investigation is connected to the case against a high school principal who allegedly failed to report child abuse and was charged the same day as the raid at Small's home.

New Jersey ordered to change 'county line' ballot design for June primaries

The primary election ballots used in New Jersey on June 4 will not be able to have the state's unique 'county line' design that has long be criticized for giving favorable placement to candidates supported by party establishments, a federal judge ruled Friday. The ballot design was challenged in a lawsuit filed by Rep. Andy Kim (D-N.J.).
