WATCH: Bulletproof glass saves clerk during shooting in North Philadelphia

Surveillance video captured a shooting during a robbery in North Philadelphia in 2016.

A gas station attendant was saved by a piece of bulletproof glass during an armed robbery in North Philadelphia.

The incident occurred Sunday around 2:30 a.m. at the Lukoil located at 4200 G Street.

Authorities say the suspect entered the store and asked the clerk, a 65-year-old man, for a pack of cigarettes. The suspect then pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. When the clerk went to the cash register, the suspect fired one shot at the clerk. The bullet struck the bulletproof glass and the suspect fled without taking anything.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 in height with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and jeans.
