A Camden County Police Department is seen in the city of Camden.
A Camden man was shot in the driver's seat of a car at about 12:13 a.m. Thursday in the city.
William Alvarez, 25, died at Cooper University Hospital about 25 minutes later. He is the 27th homicide victim in the city this year, not including police-involved shootings.
Camden County police went to the scene of the shooting, 10th Street and Atlantic Avenue, based on an alert from a ShotSpotter, a system which detects and pinpoints the location of gunfire.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
