Kevin Hart to star in Universal's 'The Great Outdoors' reboot

The 1988 comedy "The Great Outdoors" is getting a remake and Philadelphia's own Kevin Hart is set to star in the film.

Deadline reported this week that Hart's name will be attached to the Universal Studios production, which was originally scripted by John Hughes, the director and producer behind classics like "Home Alone" and "The Breakfast Club."

The original 1988 film starred Dan Aykroyd and John Candy, whose plans for a relaxing outdoor getaway is ruined by his annoying in-laws.

Michael De Luca, known for "The Social Network" and "Captain Phillips," is set as the reboot's producer, according to Variety. Universal is now on the search for a director and co-star.

Universal also recently announced that Hart will star in its comedy, "Night School," which is set to premiere in 2018.
