Rapper Nicki Minaj testified at a parole hearing Thursday in Philadelphia on behalf of her boyfriend Meek Mill, according to an Associated Press report on NBC10.
Minaj, 33, promised to help keep Mill in check after a judge threatened jail time over his latest parole infractions.
Prosecutors argued that Mill, 28, violated parole in a 2009 drug and gun case. They said he repeatedly changed his court-approved travel schedule and ducked a drug test, according to the AP report.
Minaj, who was sworn in under her birth name, Onika Maraj, said she will help ensure that he fulfills his community service requirement.
But Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley threatened to send Mill to jail when the hearing resumes Dec. 17, as she did for a few months last year. She said the rapper, whose real name is Robert Williams, submitted a suspicious urine sample.
According to the report, Mill is expected to testify when the hearing resumes.
