Pennsylvania woman pleads guilty to assault of school psychologist

Vicki L. Hawk, 57, attacked Jamestown Elementary School psychologist Gary Kinnear after her grandson was restrained for acting out

A Jamestown, Pennsylvania woman could spend up to five years in jail after pleading guilty this week to assaulting an elementary school psychologist who restrained her unruly grandson.

Appearing at the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas, 57-year-old Vicki L. Hawk accepted a plea agreement Thursday to charges of terroristic threats and simple assault in the incident at Jamestown Elementary School on October 22, 2015, according to The Meadville Tribune.

An arrest affidavit filed in the case described a chaotic scene in which Hawk's grandson became uncontrollable and began to inflict harm on himself. After Gary Kinnear, the school's psychologist and director of special education, decided to remove the boy from class and restrain him to prevent further harm, the Hawk family was informed of their child's dangerous behavior.

Vicki Hawk allegedly drove to the school and hurled obscenities at Kinnear before threatening to kill him, punching him in the face and choking him. As a result of the altercation, Kinnear was left with swelling, a mark on his cheek and a small cut on his neck.

By accepting the plea agreement, Hawk was cleared of disorderly conduct and aggravated assault charges.

In addition to potential jail time, Hawk could be ordered to pay a $10,000 fine on the terroristic threat charge and a $5,000 fine on the simple assault.

Hawk, who was freed on $10,000 unsecured bond, will be sentenced May 3 by Crawford County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Spataro.
