Philly police officer injured in alleged altercation with suspect

A Philadelphia police officer was injured early Wednesday in an alleged altercation with a suspect during a traffic stop, 6ABC reports.

Neither the officer nor the suspect have been identified at this time.

According to 6ABC, the officer allegedly attempted to pull over the suspect at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 5100 block of Baltimore Ave. Police told 6ABC that the suspect appeared to be driving under the influence.

The suspect is accused of attempting to flee the scene on foot, and that is when the alleged altercation occurred, 6ABC reports.

The officer was treated at Penn Presbyterian Hospital for a knee injury and is expected to be OK. The suspect has been arrested and charged.
