A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized Tuesday after his father, who was pulling a trailer with his pickup truck, accidentally ran over him, Egg Harbor Township police said.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:14 a.m. on Fernwood Avenue in the Bargaintown section of the township.
Thomas Kinzer, 35, was using a 2015 Dodge Ram Pickup to pull a trailer from the rear of the property while his son was in the front yard driving a small motorized toy tractor, according to police.
The child drove the tractor into the path of Kinzer’s vehicle, but he did not see his son and ran over him, police said.
The child, who was seriously injured, was treated at the scene before being transported to Cooper Regional Trauma Center by helicopter. His condition was not immediately released.
The incident remains under investigation.
