Norristown Area School Board President Shae Ashe resigned amid allegations that he sent inappropriate and sexually suggestive messages to a former student who was 17 years old at the time he contacted her. Ashe, 30, was elected to the school board in 2017 and became its president the following year.

Philly boy who was attacked by crocodile in Cancún featured on 'Good Morning America'

Charlie Buhl, a 12-year-old boy from Philadelphia who suffered serious injures in a crocodile attack during a family vacation at Club Med Cancun in Mexico in June, described the harrowing incident on "Good Morning America." The attack nearly cost Buhl his leg. There has been a string of crocodile attacks on tourists in Mexico in recent months.

A 34-year-old man was fatally shot outside a home in Northeast Philadelphia after police say he attempted to confront his ex-girlfriend at the property. The shots were fired by the homeowner, who opened fire after his door had been kicked down, investigators said.

1,300-acre Philly refinery property to be redeveloped as The Bellwether District

The site of the former Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery will be renamed The Bellwether District as part of its transformation into an economic hub for logistics, e-commerce and the life sciences. Hilco Redevelopment Partners purchased the strategic, 1,300-acre site along the lower Schuylkill River after a massive explosion occurred at the refinery in June 2019. The long-term project is expected to bring 19,000 permanent jobs and generate $2.3 billion in economic development for Philadelphia.

The Mission Inn will close for good at end of December, ending a nearly three-decade run on New Jersey Avenue in Cape May. The unique getaway destination at the Jersey Shore has been distinguished for its California mission style architecture, which stands in contrast to the Victorian homes most often associated with Cape May. Rooms are available to be booked through the rest of 2021.
