Death of man found at Camden County scouting site being investigated as homicide

Camden County detectives are investigating the death of 54-year-old Joseph Bottino, a Gloucester Township man who was found dead at a Pine Hill reservation on Dec. 23. Family members of the victim told investigators Bottino had gone hunting at the location on numerous occasions in the past.

COVID-19 community spread linked to lower survival rates at local hospitals, Penn researchers find

Hospital mortality rates for COVID-19 appear to be influenced by the degree of community spread in areas where patients are admitted, according to new research out of Penn Medicine and UnitedHealth Group. The study looked at data on 40,000 patients at 955 hospitals from January through June 2020.

A New Jersey record 25-pound, 8-ounce blackfish was caught by Waretown resident Chris Sullivan off the coast of Cape May on Dec. 20, 2020. The tautog was reeled in on the Fishin' Fever Sportfishing Charter, led by Captain Tom Daffin.

Gritty gets green light to attend Flyers games in 2021

Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty made a public appeal to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to get an answer on whether or not he and other mascots will be able to attend hockey games during the 2021 season, which will again be shortened by the coronavirus pandemic. Fans will not be permitted to attend games when the season starts in mid-January.

A firefighter made a brave rescue of a dog trapped inside a burning barn fire in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Lititz Fire Co., which responded to the scene, provided helmet cam footage of the rescue made by firefighter Ryan Balmer.

Delco man allegedly used dead mother's mail-in ballot to vote for Donald Trump

Bruce Bartman, 70, of Delaware County, allegedly used his dead mother's driver's license number to fraudulently obtain a Pennsylvania mail-in ballot in the 2020 election. Prosecutors say Bartman voted for Donald Trump using the illegal ballot and unsuccessfully attempted a similar scheme using his dead mother-in-law's social security number.

Philly extends stringent COVID-19 restrictions until Jan. 15

Philadelphia's COVID-19 restrictions on indoor dining and other high-risk settings will stay in effect until Jan. 15, 2021, city officials said Tuesday. The restrictions were implemented Nov. 20 and were originally set to expire on Jan. 1, but the health department pushed the date back to avoid another holiday surge after Christmas and New Year's.
