NBCUniversal reporter Iris Delgado was assaulted while conducting a live shot outside Philadelphia's City Hall on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
A 37-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with a Wednesday night incident in which she allegedly assaulted an NBCUniversal reporter during a live shot for Telemundo outside Philadelphia’s City Hall.
Waheedah Wilson, of the 300 block of South Broad Street, was charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the abrupt attack on reporter Iris Delgado which was caught on film. She's scheduled for a status hearing on July 11.

According to police, the reporter was doing a live shot outside of City Hall around 11 p.m. when a "black female approached the complainant and immediately grabbed her hair. The female then punched the complainant three times on the right side of her head and pulled her to the ground.
"The complainant’s news crew then pushed the female away and followed the female to the 1600 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard, where she was identified and arrested by 9th District Officers.”
Delgado, a reporter with NBCUniversal since November 2013, complained of pain in the right side of her head afterward, but said she would seek treatment at a later time, according to police.
“Iris Delgado was the victim of an unprovoked attack by an individual while reporting live for Telemundo62’s 11 PM local newscast," a station spokesperson said. "Thankfully, she is ok and is understandably taking some time off to recover. We look forward to her return.”
Delgado was given two days off after the assault leading into a pre-scheduled vacation.
