West Philadelphia man shot multiple times after answering door

Suspects allegedly forced apartment building resident to lead them to the door of the victim

Philadelphia police are seeking three suspects after a West Philadelphia man was shot multiple times early Sunday morning after responding to a knock at his door.

According to police, the three suspects approached a woman sitting on the porch of an apartment building on North 50th Street above Market Street, CBS 3 reports. At approximately 1 a.m., the suspects, armed with handguns, allegedly forced the woman to lead them inside the building to the door of the victim.

When the suspects knocked on the door and the victim asked who was there, the woman was instructed to reply, "it's me."

The victim opened the door and one of the suspects opened fire, striking him four times. In the chaos of the shooting, the woman was able to break away and call 911.

The victim, 55, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition. According to police, the suspects range between 17-20 years old. The motive behind the attack is unknown.
