Christmas tree recycling program to start in Philly next week

Streets Department announces drop off locations throughout the city

Christmas quickly came and went this year. It may seem like you just finished decorating your tree, and now it's time to take it down.

The city is offering a program to help you dispose of your Christmas tree in an environmentally friendly way.

  • SANITATION CENTER LOCATIONS:
  • 3033 S. 63rd Street
  • Domino Lane & Umbria Street
  • State Road & Ashburner Street
  • 2601 W. Glenwood Avenue
  • 5100 Grays Avenue
  • 3901 N. Delaware Avenue

The Streets Department announced last week that its 27-year-old "Residential Christmas Tree Recycling Program" will run from Jan. 4 through Jan. 16.

Trees can be dropped off at the Streets Department Sanitation Convenience Centers, which are open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will also be 23 designated locations to drop off Christmas trees throughout the city on Saturday, Jan. 9 and Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Drop-offs are also being offered at some neighborhood civic associations.

Trees with decorations cannot be recycled.
