A woman left her baby in a cab while she robbed a Wawa near Wilmington early Tuesday morning, Delaware State Police say.

Amanda Paoletti, 29, took a minivan taxi to a Wawa at 705 Philadelphia Pike around 3:25 a.m. Tuesday. She reportedly left the 1-year-old child in the cab with the driver and a man they live with while she entered the Wawa. Police say Paoletti then told the cashier she had a gun and demanded money from the register. The 19-year-old employee handed over the cash, police say, and the suspect fled.

Police say the cabbie, who had no idea he was a getaway driver, later gave them the address where he dropped off Paoletti. The man who owns the home Paoletti and her daughter live in told police he had no knowledge of the events inside the Wawa. Police arrested Paoletti and say they recovered cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the home.

Paoletti was charged with robbery, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, Delaware State Police said.
