Cuba Libre will host an empanada happy hour on April 8.
Add National Empanada Day to the list of wacky holidays everyone should remember to mark on their calendar. The date falls on Friday, April 8 and Cuba Libre plans on celebrating.
The Old City restaurant will serve $1 empanadas during happy hour from 5-7 p.m. at the bar. Empanada fillings will include chicken, beef picadillo, pulled pork and three-cheese. Regular happy hour specials, like $5 mojitos, $4 sangria and $4-5 tapas, will still be available, too.

The restaurant will also add two empanada dishes to its lunch and dinner menu for the entire month of April. Dishes were chosen in a Facebook contest, where participants voted on three favorites out of 27 options.
Winners of the contest so far are cataluña with shrimp, creamy spinach and pine nuts and Del Jardín with grilled artichoke hearts, salted cured tomatoes and feta cheese.
