First-ever Rad Awards celebrate inspiring women

Rad Girls, the online organization highlighting powerful, innovative women and their success founded by PhillyVoice's own Leah R. Kauffman, is hosting its first-ever award ceremony. Sponsored in part by PhillyVoice, The Rad Awards will be held Saturday, April 18, at The Dreaming Building and will honor amazing women in technology, media, business and culture.

The ceremony will include light fare, cocktails by Bluecoat American Dry Gin, plus music by DJ Diamond Girl. The nominees, which include both individuals and organizations, were selected by a closed committee of community leaders.

Award categories for the night include Rad Girl and Rad Guy of the Year, Artist of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year and Activists of the Year. Organizations like Girl Develop It and Feminist Public Works are among the nominees, as are Fork pastry chef Samantha Kincaid and fashion designer Dom Streater. Tickets are open to the public, and the event is for those aged 21 and over.
