Being stuck in the house during a snow storm can make kids stir crazy and leave parents with the task of finding a way to entertain them.
Why not make the day indoors a fun one for the whole family?
A snow day is an opportunity for everyone to spend time together. Instead of spending the day on the couch watching movies or playing video games, try some of these fun family activities:
You can never go wrong with a good board game. Choose from one of your kids' favorite games, or maybe introduce them to one from your childhood. From Clue to Candy Land to Monopoly, you can keep everyone busy for a few hours, while partaking in some friendly competition. Add in a few prizes for the winners for some extra fun.
Puzzles are not only time consuming, but stimulating as well. Just because the kids are off from school doesn't mean they can't do some mind-stretching activities.
Why not bond while making something delicious to share? Bake some cookies or cupcakes together. Take turns mixing ingredients and have everyone decorate his or her own treat.
Not the baking type? Try making some marshmallow snowmen.
So maybe you all think it's too cold to build a snow fort outside. Bring the fun indoors. Use a bunch of pillows, sheets and blankets to build the ultimate living room fort.
Tap into your inner actor or actress and put on a performance for each other. You might choose to act out your child's favorite movie or bedtime story. Feel free to be creative. Add in some costumes or funny accents, and you will all be laughing and having a good time.
