LOVE sculpture finds a new home – for now

The statue will return to LOVE Park in about a year following a $16.5 million park redesign

Philadelphia’s iconic LOVE sculpture has temporarily found a new home at Dilworth Park while LOVE Park undergoes a $16.5 million redesign.

According to 6ABC, the statue was moved just across 15th Street, which spans between the two parks, but regardless of the short distance, the shift was made with painstaking care.

George Young, of the engineering firm charged with the move, told 6ABC his firm used a technique that will make it as if the sculpture is “on an almost cushion of air. We just handle it slowly and carefully.”

By next spring, the park redesign should be complete, and when that time comes, the LOVE sculpture will be back.
