New Jersey looks to expand hunting

Several hunting-related bills up for consideration

Several hunting-related bills are up for consideration in Trenton on Monday, including some that could allow hunting on public lands on Sundays, according to Philly.com.

The proposed bills are scheduled to be debated Monday at hearings before the state Senate's environment committee

One of the bills would allow more trappers to catch beavers, which has environmentalists concerned.

They say that killing more beavers could hurt ecosystems and that allowing Sunday hunting on public lands could threaten people who are there for other reasons, such as bird-watching.

Apprentice hunting licenses and bow-hunting on federal military installations are other topics for debate.

Eleven states have statutes regarding hunting on Sundays.
