N.J. Turnpike pileup leaves one dead

A pileup involving 15 or more vehicles left one dead, injured several others and closed the New Jersey Turnpike's southbound lanes for hours Monday night, 6ABC reported.

The TV station reported that the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. Monday when, according to the agency that manages the turnpike, a tractor-trailer jackknifed near a service plaza. Several cars, four tractor-trailers, two box trucks and a bus were involved, state police told 6ABC.

Officials are still investigating the crash.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn told 6ABC that officials will have updates later on Tuesday.
