Police investigate mysterious death of jogger in Montco park

Investigators believe fatigue may have been a factor in victim's death

Police in Montgomery County are investigating the mysterious death of a man who became separated from a group of joggers Wednesday night, prompting an hour-long search through Fort Washington State Park in White Marsh Township.

According to NBC 10, the victim, a male in his 20s, went missing from his group, possibly as a result of fatigue. When the group could not find him, police were notified and a search crew was sent to help locate him.

The victim's body was eventually found near railroad tracks at the bottom of a 20-foot ravine, police said. The man was not struck by a train and there were no obvious signs of trauma. Investigators believe that the victim may have collapsed after becoming disoriented and fallen to the bottom of the ravine.

The identity of the victim has not been released and an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
