Man dead after police-involved shooting in Ocean County

A police-involved shooting that left a man dead Sunday night in Ocean County is under investigation, CBSPhilly reports.

Police said a man called 911 around 10:50 p.m. and allegedly stated he was going to create a disturbance. They were then dispatched to 47 Cherry Wood Circle in Brick Township.

When they arrived, officers were approached by the male, who appeared to be holding a black semi-automatic handgun, officials said.

According to authorities, the man refused to drop the weapon and officers discharged their weapons. The man was struck several times and was killed.

Identities of those involved are pending family notifications.

The incident remains under investigation.
