High-speed railways connecting Philly and Pittsburgh were part of Gov. Tom Wolf's campaign, but a study looking at the feasibility of the project says it'll be costly.

Amtrak service between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh currently takes 5 and 1/2 hours and is often slowed by freight trains, NewsWorks reports. But trimming the trip 10 minutes could cost $2 billion, and a half-hour trim could cost $10 billion, according to a study by PennDOT.

Improvements would be expensive because of curves, hills and mountains in the terrain.

PennDOT is asking for public comment on whether folks would like improvements to the train system or not.
