Commuters who combine cycling and SEPTA will be getting an added amenity at several train stops.
As a part of the agency's new Cycle-Transit Plan, new covered parking stations for bicycles will be installed at 14 regional rail stops throughout the city, SEPTA announced Wednesday.
Several factors were used to determine which stations would receive the stations, including existing traffic problems, demand for bike parking and the condition of current bike racks.
The following stations will receive the new digs:
As the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia, which put together a map of the chosen stations, points out, the stations are similar to an existing bike garage at the Temple University station.
The stations are a part of SEPTA's 3-year, $3 million bike plan. Dates for completion of these stations have not yet been announced, however the agency did note that this week will focus on aspects of the plan that focus on the Regional Rail lines, and next week will focus on the Broad and Market/Frankford subway lines.
