Handmade signs showing a photograph of a plush stuffed bunny have been plastered on community bulletin boards in Mt. Airy in an effort to reunite the toy with its owner.
According to the finder of the toy, Kira Baker-Doyle, it was left outside High Point Café, where she spotted it on Feb. 27 sitting abandoned in the rain.
She said she snatched it up, took it home to give it a bath and then took photos to create the signs and begin the search for its probably pint-sized owner. She also shared the photo and information on Facebook, and it's since been shared more than 200 times.
"I know well-loved toys have a special place in children's hearts and felt compelled to help the owner reunite with it," Baker-Doyle said.
Baker-Doyle is asking anyone with information on the toy's owner to contact her at teacherkira@yahoo.com to arrange its homecoming.
If she doesn’t find its owner, she said she plans to donate the toy to a child of a refugee family resettled through HIAS.
