Sly Fox Bock Fest & Goat Race returns to Pottstown

It's a full day of outdoor drinking and competition

Sly Fox Brewing Company will host its annual Bock Fest & Goat Races on May 1. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the goat races beginning at 2 p.m. It's a full day of outdoor drinking and competition in the grassy field outside of the Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown.

Brewmaster Brian O'Reilly and his crew will have a lineup of bock beers for sale at the event. Slacker Bock, Helles Bock, Instigator Doppelbock and a Maibock will be available. A german-inspired food menu will accompany the beers.

The day marks the release of the Maibock, which will be tapped immediately after the goat race and named in honor of the winner. So for 2016, the beer could be named after Vincent Van Goat, Glitzy, Theo or one of the other creatively named competitors.

Attendees should note that food, drinks and merchandise at the event must be purchased with Bock Fest tickets, which are $6 each, and will be sold from two cash-only ticket booths. Portions of the day's proceeds benefit both the Pottstown Police Athletic League and the Brandywine Valley SPCA.

Attendees must be 21-and-older to drink, but any age is welcome to attend the festival.
