The Flyers' defense has been reborn, and so has assistant coach Mike Yeo

The dichotomy of it makes perfect sense to Mike Yeo. One moment, the 46-year-old hockey lifer from North Bay, Ontario, is being told on a Monday night that his job is over in the darkened bowels of the St. Louis Enterprise Center. The Blues only went on to win their first Stanley Cup under former Flyer/former Flyer head coach Craig Berube. The next moment, Yeo is fishing on Lake Erie on a sunny April weekday when a call came about his hockey life receiving a rebirth.

Carter Hart, other NHL goalies use intense training to develop 'goalie vision'

In the hockey world, it’s called vision training, but Edmonton-based performance psychologist John Stevenson, who works with Hart and Holtby, doesn’t really like the term. Stevenson calls it cognitive perceptual training, because he feels it’s not just the eyes that are being exercised to pick up the puck and the play, but it’s the brain, too.

Week 15 NFL betting advice: Take Washington with the points Sunday against the Eagles

St. Joe's Prep

St. Joe’s Prep defies a mountain of obstacles to take another state title

They’re viewed across the state as the “evil empire” — and they don’t care. They get everyone’s best game — and they don’t care. They probably had every high school team and player across the state rooting against them Saturday night at Hersheypark Stadium in the PIAA Class 6A championship — and they still didn’t care. They’re essentially the most hated team in Pennsylvania — and they don’t care.

Archbishop Wood tops Cheltenham in final seconds to claim PIAA 5A state title in a classic finish

HERSHEY, Pa. — The journey began in the halls. It began finding a basketball player who had to be taught in August how to put on football pads. It moved forward with a player who suffered from a case of the fumbles — and was handpicked to make the play of the year — and with a diminutive kicker, who was a castoff from the soccer team, who put them here.

Two Philly Bernards, Hopkins and Fernandez, become boxing Hall of Famers

They both carry the first name Bernard. They both have Philadelphia area roots. They both invested 28 years heavily entrenched in a sport that lost its mainstream cache about 30 years ago, though they somehow managed to keep it on the edges of sports relevance for decades — one with his words and insight, the other with his fists and iconoclastic ways.
