Lower Merion man escapes carjacking from suspect posing as solar power solicitor, police say

Lower Merion police are searching for suspect who carjacked a man at gunpoint outside his home on Monday in the Penn Wynne section of the township. The suspect allegedly posed as a solar power soliciting in the victim's driveway and forced the man into his car. The victim jumped out of the moving vehicle on Broad Street and suffered minor injuries.

Elkins Park native NariYella stuns coaches in audition for 'The Voice'

NariYella, a 20-year-old singer from Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, got a four-chair turn after her blind audition on Tuesday night's episode of "The Voice," where she performed "One Night Only," the hit song from the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls." All of the judges invited NariYella to join their respective teams, but the University of the Arts student went with Chance the Rapper's team.

Philly man, woman each sentenced to prison in Jenkintown road rage assault

Charles Woodson, 38, and September Wingfield, 27, were sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman during a road rage dispute on Old York Road in Jenkintown on Dec. 16, 2021. The attack was caught on video as Wingfield and Woodson brutally beat the woman outside of her car, leaving her unconscious on the roadway.

Century-old, steam-powered train built in Philadelphia restored as 'living museum' in central Pennsylvania

The East Broad Top Railroad in Rockhill Furnace, Pennsylvania has restored a 107-year-old, steam-powered locomotive built by Philadelphia's Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia. The foundation that has restored the old EBT rail line in Huntington County, will begin offering guided tours on May 6, 2023.

Philadelphia has reached a $9.25 million settlement with 343 plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit over the police department's use of force, including the use of tear gas and rubber bullets, against people protesting the murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020.

Bucks County man dies after boat capsizes in lake

Dominic Testani, 18, of Doylestown, died Sunday after his boat capsized in Lake Henry in Wayne County. Two other people who were aboard the row boat survived. Testani had recently graduated early from Central Bucks West High School and was planning to enter the military.

6ABC meteorologist Karen Rogers and reporter Jessica Boyington had an unexpected, NSFW moment during the morning weather report on St. Patrick's Day. Rogers made a joke about double-fisting beers, but forgot to mention she was talking about beer. A clip of the interaction has gone viral on social media.

Deer ticks are fueling the rise of a flu-like illness that isn't Lyme disease

Deer ticks, known for spreading Lyme disease, are responsible for increased cases of babesiosis, a flu-like illness that is considered endemic in seven states, including New Jersey, the CDC says. Babesiosis, once considered rare, is caused by a microscopic parasite transmitted by ticks. Symptoms include a high fever, excessive sweating, chills, headaches, muscle and joint pain, and loss of appetite.

Amada, the modern Spanish tapas restaurant from Chef Jose Garces, opens this weekend in Radnor at 555 E. Lancaster Ave. Amada was the first solo concept opened by the James Beard Award-winning chef in Old City in 2005. There's also another location at Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City.

Pa. woman fatally attacked by her neighbor's Great Danes

A pair of Great Danes fatally attacked a Pennsylvania woman who was caring for them while their owners were away, police said. The dog breed generally is not considered aggressive or dangerous, but can become anxious or territorial around strangers. Kristin Potter, 38, of Perry County, suffered multiple traumatic injuries in the attack, the coroner said.
