Supermarket chain Giant failed to pay proper rates for overtime to more than 3,000 employees across 192 stores in Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The investigation led to the Wage and Hour Division’s recovery of $165,653 in back wages stemming from a conversion of hourly wage increases into COVID-related bonuses that were not factored in to overtime pay.

Authorities in New Jersey are searching for a man who may be impersonating a police officer. Investigators with the New Jersey State Police said two women reported being stopped by a suspicious man earlier this month. The first incident was on Aug. 1 in Brick Township, Ocean County and the second was in Wall Township, Monmouth County.

SEPTA and PennDOT will test using bus-only lanes on Market Street between 20th and 15th streets and on JFK Boulevard between 15th and 19th streets. For 18 months, transportation officials will study whether the changes reduce traffic congestion along these stretches, which are heavily used by SEPTA buses.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner filed perjury charges against three former homicide detectives who played a pivotal role in the wrongful conviction of Anthony Wright. The three former detectives — Manuel Santiago, Martin Devlin, and Frank Jastrzembski — allegedly lied under oath about details in their investigation of the 1991 rape and murder of an elderly woman in North Philadelphia. Wright, who was coerced to sign a false confession, was exonerated in 2016 and received a $9.85 million settlement from the city after filing a civil lawsuit.

An employee at a Wawa in West Mount Airy stabbed a customer who attacked him Thursday night inside a store on Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia police said. The incident allegedly stemmed from the customer's impatience over not being served quickly enough, police said.

Donald Meshey Jr., 32, of Lancaster, is charged with homicide and related offenses after a human head was found inside his freezer and a dismembered cadaver was located in a bedroom at the residence, police said. Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.

The Pennsylvania Elk Cam has returned for the 2021 bugling season through an annual partnership between the Pennsylvania Game Commission and HDOnTap. The live stream camera is positioned over a field on State Game Lands 311 in Benezette, Elk County, in the north central part of the state. It will remain live until the end of bugling season in mid-October. The best time to tune is during late afternoons.

Philadelphia 76ers center Andre Drummond shared a video Thursday of a scary incident in his backyard, where his two-year-old son briefly fell into a pool. Drummond, 28, dove into the water and pulled the boy out within seconds.
