A husband and wife, both detectives with the New Jersey State Police, were charged Thursday with allegedly lying about what happened when they got into a physical altercation with other patrons at a bar in North Wildwood last year, the state attorney general's office announced.

Stephen Sharkey, 51, of Swedesboro, was sentenced to a prison term and ordered to pay restitution after pleading guilty to defrauding victims in mortgage-closing schemes. Sharkey stole down payments and proceeds from the sale of a home, paying a portion of the stolen funds to an organization linked to the Philadelphia mob.

An engineer on the MSC Gayane, a ship involved in one of the largest drug busts in United States history, will spend five years and 10 months in prison. The shipping vessel was raided at the Port of Philadelphia on June 17, 2019, when authorities seized nearly 20 tons of cocaine worth an estimated $1 billion in street value. Seven other crew members have pleaded guilty since the bust.

Stephen Cilurso, 68, of Aldan, is charged with harassment for allegedly leaving lewd voicemails at the Glensid, Montgomery County office of Rep. Madeleine Dean, D-4th, during the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump in February. Dean, who represents Montgomery County, was an impeachment manager in the the trial.

Philadelphia police have charged Tylydiah Garnett for her alleged role in the death of a 21-year-old Dianna Brice, a pregnant mother whose body was found in Southwest Philadelphia on April 5, 2021. Investigators said Brice died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head. The victim's boyfriend, 23-year-old Justin Smith, remains missing and is a person of interest in the case.
