One injured in shooting on SEPTA subway platform in Center City; suspect in custody

A shooting on the platform of SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line at 15th Street Station sent riders scrambling out of concourse on Tuesday afternoon. Investigators said a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered, police said.

Johnny Gaudreau's widow reveals pregnancy during eulogy for NHL star

During Monday's funeral for Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother Matthew, the former NHL star's widow, Meredith Gaudreau, revealed that she's pregnant with the couple's third child. The brothers died Aug. 29 when they were hit by a suspected drunk driver while biking in New Jersey. The memorial service was held at Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Upper Providence, Delaware County.

Could widening the Blue Route's shoulders solve the highway's rush-hour traffic problems?

PennDOT plans to widen the left shoulders on Interstate-476, creating temporary third lanes on the northbound and southbound sides of the highway during rush-hour and other peak travel times. The project is planned along a 9-mile stretch from West Chester Pike south to where the Blue Route connects to I-95 in Chester. Construction could begin as soon as 2027, with a goal to complete the temporary lanes by 2030.

Andorra Shopping Center to get Giant supermarket as part of planned upgrades in Roxborough

A new Giant supermarket is planned for the Andorra Shopping Center in the Roxborough neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia. The 50,000-square-foot store is slated to replace the former Acme market that closed in the shopping center earlier this year. Developers also plan to invest in landscape improvements and upgrades for new stores next to the Andorra branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia.

A 16-year-old is charged in fatal drive-by shooting of West Philly rapper YBC Dul

A 16-year-old has been charged with homicide in the fatal shooting of Abdul Vicks, the West Philadelphia rapper and gang leader known as YBC Dul. Vicks, 25, was killed in a.drive-by shooting in Olney on Aug. 23. The teen is also accused of two separate shootings in August, including another homicide.

Funeral service for Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau to be held Monday at Delaware County church

The family of former NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, will have a funeral service for them at Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Upper Providence, Pennsylvania at noon on Monday, Sept. 9. The two brothers were killed last Thursday night by a suspected drunk driver who struck them as they rode their bikes on a road in their home state of New Jersey near where they grew up in Salem County.

2 people killed in head-on collision on Route 55 in Gloucester County

Two people were killed in a crash in Mantua Township, Gloucester County on Thursday morning when a wrong-way driver entered the northbound lanes of Route 55 and collided with an oncoming car, New Jersey State Police said. Stanley Kahana, 62, of Philadelphia, and Jennifer Huffnel, 53, of Deptford, were killed.

American Airlines to add international flights from Philly to Edinburgh and Milan

American Airlines will add Milan and Edinburgh, Scotland, to its list of European destinations out of Philadelphia International Airport next year. The carrier, which will have 17 European destinations in 2025, will also extend seasonal service to Athens, Greece, and Naples, Italy.

A blaze that destroyed the Fire Chief's Memorial in Norristown is ruled arson

The Aug. 28 fire at that destroyed a century-old bandshell structure at Norristown's Elmwood Park was ruled an arson, authorities said. The bandshell served as a memorial to the city's fire department chiefs over the years and was a hub for summer concerts, movies and Fourth of July celebrations. Officials said they plan to have the memorial rebuilt.
