The Aug. 28 fire at that destroyed a century-old bandshell structure at Norristown's Elmwood Park was ruled an arson, authorities said. The bandshell served as a memorial to the city's fire department chiefs over the years and was a hub for summer concerts, movies and Fourth of July celebrations. Officials said they plan to have the memorial rebuilt.

SEPTA is proposing fare adjustments that include getting rid of the transit discount offered to those who use SEPTA Key cards and other contactless payment methods to ride its subways, buses and trolleys. All transit riders would pay $2.50 instead of the $2 rate now offered to those who use methods other than cash and Quik Trip cards. The proposal also includes fair changes on Regional Rail.

Federal investigators in Philadelphia revealed Wednesday they have seized more than 30 internet domains allegedly tied to a Russian government-backed plot to meddle in U.S. politics and influence public opinion on issues including the war in Ukraine. The case is part of wider Justice Department probe into Russia's alleged efforts to interfere in November's election, a concern that also loomed over each of the last two presidential races.

The Philadelphia 76ers said Tuesday that the team is now taking a legitimate look at the possibility of constructing a new arena on the Delaware River waterfront in Camden as an alternative to the proposed project on Market Street in Center City. New Jersey officials formally pitched the site of a former state prison as a location for a new arena, touting the possibility of significant tax incentives as part of a larger residential and entertainment district north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

Thomas Riceman, 34, attacked a park ranger with scissors at Rittenhouse Square on Sunday, Sept. 1 and allegedly shouted "Go back to your country!" during the attack, Philadelphia police said. The ranger suffered stab wounds to the face and head, but managed to put Riceman in handcuffs after a struggle. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation, making terroristic threats and related offenses.

Six Flags will begin requiring that guests ages 15 and under be accompanied by chaperones at all of its amusement parks starting Saturday, Sept. 7. The policy takes effect each day after 5 p.m. and requires that chaperones be at least 21 years old. They must remain at Six Flags parks throughout their visits and may responsible for no more than 10 guests 15 years old and under.

Convicted killer Danilo Cavalcante, the inmate who escaped from Chester County Prison last year and led authorities on a 13-day manhunt, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of escape, burglary, trespassing and related crimes. He was sentenced Friday to 15 to 30 years in prison on top of the life sentence he's serving for fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend in 2021.

The elk cam livestream is back for the species' yearly rut when males compete to mate with females. The camera is stationed on Pennsylvania Game Commission property in Benezette, Elk County. The game commission recommends viewing the elk cam during the late afternoon for the best chance of catching them live.

Authorities in Wildwood are investigating a crash involving a police pickup truck that struck a woman lying on the Rio Grande Beach on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency responders took the injured woman to a local hospital. Her boyfriend said she suffered multiple broken ribs, three fractured vertebrae and a lung injury.
