Sam Ash Music Stores will close its shops at Philadelphia Mills and in King of Prussia as part of a company-wide restructuring that will shut about half of its stores in the coming months. The two stores in the Philly area are expected to close in late May and will be holding liquidation sales.

Bar dispute led to fatal shootings at Fairmount Park last month, police say

Thurston Cooper and Krystina Chambers, who were shot to death near Mount Pleasant Mansion in Fairmount Park on Feb. 29, 2024, were involved in a bar dispute earlier that night with the two people charged in their deaths, Philadelphia police said Thursday. Lamar Young and Dale Johnson have been charged with murder, conspiracy and related offenses.

Jefferson Health completes construction of 19-story Honickman Center

Jefferson Health has finished construction of the Honickman Center, a 19-story outpatient tower at 11th and Chestnut streets in Center City. The new building contains more than 300 exam rooms and has multiple specialities and named care centers under one roof. It will open to patients April 15.

The ground floor of a new apartment building in University City will be occupied by a Grocer Outlet bargain market and West African restaurant Kilimandjaro, which previously was located in the former shopping center where the new building stands at 43rd and Chestnut streets. The building is now preleasing apartments.

U.S. Marshals name fourth suspect sought in Northeast Philly bus stop shooting, offer $5,000 reward

A $5,000 reward has been offered for the capture of Asir Boone, 17, who has been identified as the fourth suspect in the March 6 shooting that injured 8 teens at SEPTA bus stop in the Burholme neighborhood of Northeast Philly. Three other suspects have already been arrested.

Medical assistant charged with sexually assaulting women at urgent care in Abington

Abington police arrested Ramon Garcia, 33, at Carbon Health Urgent Care on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting two women at the clinic. Garcia allegedly posed as a nurse and performed unauthorized exams on patients.

Third suspect arrested in shooting of 8 teens at bus stop in Northeast Philly

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting in Northeast Philadelphia that injured 8 teenagers at a SEPTA bus stop last Wednesday. Jermahd Carter, 19, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday to face charges of attempted murder, firearms violations and related offenses. Two other arrests were announced Monday and one additional suspect remains at large.

Man charged with fatally shooting two people in Fairmount Park

Lamar Young, 52, is charged with fatally shooting a man and woman at Fairmount Park near Mount Pleasant Mansion on Feb. 29, Philadelphia police said. Investigators said Thurston Cooper, 49, and Krystina Chambers, 38, appeared to have been shot "execution-style." A motive in the shooting remains under investigation.

Rob McElhenney launches multimedia company More Better Industries

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' star Rob McElhenney has launched a new multimedia company, More Better Industries, that will oversee film, marketing and consulting projects. McElhenney, a South Philly native, has branched into a number of new ventures in recent years, including purchasing the Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC with Ryan Reynolds and started the Irish American whiskey brand Four Walls with his TV co-stars Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day.

Chinatown Stitch project to cap Vine Street Expressway gains $158 million in funding

The Chinatown Stitch project has received a $158 million federal grant for the construction of two caps above the Vine Street Expressway. The construction of I-676 in the 1960s created a physical barrier and quality of life concerns in the neighborhood. Work on the Chinatown Stitch could begin as soon as 2027, officials said.
