The Made in America Festival was canceled for the second year in a row. Organizers of the yearly concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia that takes place during Labor Day Weekend didn't give a specific reason for the change, but said the event will return in the future.

Nearly 40 animals, including a duct-taped kitten, rescued in Coatesville by Brandywine Valley SPCA

The Brandywine Valley SPCA rescued nearly 40 animals from a home in Coatesville, Chester County last week after a kitten with a severed front leg wrapped in duct tape was given to officers responding to reports of a stray dog. Some of the animals had untreated wounds, infected eyes or respiratory illnesses. They will be put up for adoption. A suspect has been charged with animal cruelty.

Grocery-chain magnate Jeff Brown reportedly invests in Di Bruno Bros.

A company owned by Jeff Brown, the founder of Brown's Super Stores and a former mayoral candidate, made an undisclosed investment in local chain Di Bruno Bros. Details about his backing remains unclear, but the gourmet food shops aren't expected to greatly change.

America's oldest drive-in movie theater to celebrate its 90th anniversary

Shankweiler's Drive-In theater will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Saturday, April 13, with an homage to the original setup, including vintage cars and a remake of the original screen. The theater, which is in Orefield, is the oldest drive-in in the country.

Philly's street-sweeping program has expanded to more blocks this year

Philadelphia's street-sweeping program runs from April 1 to Nov. 1 in 2024 and includes 14 neighborhoods. In seven of them, more blocks are included this year. On some streets, residents will be required to move their cars to accommodate street cleaners. Each street in these neighborhoods is cleaned one day a week between Monday and Thursday.

Philadelphia police said a body was pulled from the Schuylkill River near the Spring Garden Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Investigators are trying to determine the man's identity and how he died. They have described him as a Black man who was in his 30s.
