The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking help from the public in identifying a man they say robbed a North Philly nail salon with a sawed-off shotgun on Sunday after he requested a manicure.
On Tuesday, the Northwest Detective Division released surveillance video of a robbery that occurred on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 5:50 p.m. at Rockland Nails in Logan.
According to police, at that time, an unknown male entered Rockland Nails at 1341 Rockland St. and requested a manicure.
However, when he was told how much having his nails cleaned and clipped would cost, the man produced - what police say appeared to be - a sawed-off shotgun, and demanded money instead.
As can be seen in the surveillance video, employees crouch and hide behind chairs as the man rifles through drawers, taking money, police say.
Watch it here:
According to police, the man stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled on Rockland Street.
Police describe the wanted individual as a black male, between 30 and 40 years old, with a stocky build and a medium brown complexion. Law enforcement officials also describe him as about 6 feet tall with a salt/pepper beard. Also, police say, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a dark-colored baseball hat, dark-colored pants and black/white sneakers at the time of the incident.
Police are asking anyone who may see this individual to contact 911 immediately. If you'd like to submit a tip anonymously, you can contact police at (215) 686-8477 or text a tip to 773847.
