A low pressure system will bring heavy rains and strong winds to Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore over the weekend.
As much as 3 inches of rain is possible in some places across the region between Sunday morning and Monday night, forecasters warned. Most places will see a minimum of 1 inch of precipitation, which should stay all wet due to above-freezing temeratures.
The rain could be accompanied by strong northeasterly winds – 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph – through the period, and tree damage and scattered power outages are possible.
Minor coastal flooding, especially along the Atlantic shoreline, is possible.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service said their confidence in the forecast is moderate at this time. The forecast will be updated in the coming hours and days.
