An Atlantic City man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to assault an officer while naked, police said Saturday.
Atlantic City Police responded to reports of a naked male in the street Friday shortly before 5 p.m. around South Carolina and Caspian avenues.
Officers Scott Sendrick and Robert Reynolds found Steven Grant, 25, who was allegedly acting aggressively, screaming and showing signs of being under the influence of narcotics.
Police said that they tried to get Grant to put clothes on while a small crowd – that included kids – gathered around to watch the events unfold.
Officials said that Grant did not oblige and then reportedly moved toward North Carolina Avenue and Route 30.
Sendrick moved his police vehicle to block the traffic and when he tried to leave the car, Grant allegedly ran toward him and jumped on the hood. He then charged after Sendrick.
The officer then used his "conducted energy device" to de-escalate the situation.
Grant was evaluated at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and later released. He did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
He is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, police said. His bail is set at $25,000.
