Contemporary dance show HATCH Plate 3 Photography/Birds on a Wire

Birds on a Wire Dance Theatre presents "HATCH."

What happens when an entirely volunteer-run dance company creates a show? The end result is an assorted lineup, but that's exactly what Birds on a Wire Dance Theater wants for the performance "HATCH," taking place at The Performance Garage in Center City.

The company's aim is to "allow the artists to create the work they want without many of the logistical and financial burdens of self-producing, in addition to creating a team of artists to work and learn from one another," according to a press release.

To create professional and well-produced productions, each up-and-coming choreographer went through an eight-month development program. At the end, the show was ready for the stage, with a unifying theme exploring new trends in contemporary dance.

While there is a central theme, still expect to see a diverse show reflective of the diverse featured choreographers.

"HATCH" will run for three days beginning on June 9, with all three shows scheduled for 8 p.m. On the final date, there will be a reception following the performance where beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and appetizers will be served. General admission tickets are $20, while tickets for the show and after-party are $30.
